
Ever wished you could have a pie flavored like Mountain Dew’s bluest flavor? Well, even if you haven’t, Taco Bell has you covered. The fast food chain released its Baja Blast pie on Thursday, just in time for you to bring it to your Friendsgiving, the company said.
Taco Bell first announced the Mountain Dew flavor-inspired Baja Blast pie at its Live Más Live event in 2024, where it gave fans the inside scoop on its marketing plans and new products. The dessert went viral at the time, but fans would have to wait nearly two years to sink their forks into it.
The fast food chain said the pie, which is bright teal and “Tropical Lime”-flavored just like the soda, has been “reimagined” as a “creamy, key lime-style dessert, featuring a graham crumb crust.” It’s being sold as a whole pie for $19.99 in stores while supplies last.
So, how do fans feel about the new flavor? Based on responses to a Thursday Instagram post from Taco Bell, many are thrilled to try the pie and are willing to go to great lengths to obtain one. One enthusiast wrote, “Currently 6:54AM and am posted outside of Taco Bell so I can get one.” Another commented, “The closest TB is an hour away but ill make the trip if you promise it will be there.”
Other fans who tried the pie loved it, with one writing, “I’m sad I only purchased one pie. I need this to last longer.” One likened the flavor to “a sherbet ice cream cake,” and another wrote it was the “best pie I’ve ever had.”
And it wasn’t just the Taco Bell fans who had positive things to say. A writer for MassLive was surprised to find the pie tasted “pretty darn good.”
“You get the tartness of the lime as well as the sweetness of the Baja Blast,” he said.
A reviewer for Chowhound also approved of the item, telling readers that key lime pie fans won’t be disappointed. “The filling is sufficiently luscious with that hallmark juicy citrus tang,” he wrote.
At Insider, one reviewer who was initially skeptical said: “Mixed with the pie crust and the white cream topping, it was well-balanced. Sweet, sure. Slightly unnatural, sure. But … it was good.”
